Two months ago, when I cut my long, luscious blonde locks I was regretting it! It took so long to let my hair grow out but then I saw the cute trending blunt bobs and short hairstyles that many of my favorite celebrities were sporting and I decided to experiment with these hairstyles. My blunt bob has many every-day advantages in regards to styling because I can blow dry it faster and if I need to rev it up with dry shampoo it only takes a few minutes. If you’re just like me and you chopped off your long locks and don’t know what to do, here’s three ways I’ve been styling my blunt bob. You won’t believe how easy and amazing you’ll look once you’re done reading this post and putting my tips to good use!
Classic Beachy Waves
I was scared to think I was not going to be able to curl my short hair but contrary to that, it’ so much easier to curl my short hair. Beside, did you know short hair makes fine, straight hair look voluminous and fuller?
How To: I use a flat iron to create beachy waves and apply a texturizing spray to create a piecey look right after I finish every wave or curl. Do not curl starting from the root but start midway for a more effortless, beachy look. Spray some dry shampoo at the roots for more lift, lock in with hair spray and tousle.
The Red Carpet Slick Back
I loved seeing this look during the red carpet season but never knew I could pull it off until I tried it! Disclaimer: This will work best if you have straight or fine hair like mine.
How To: If your hair is dry, wet the palm of your hands and wet your hair, not dripping, but just wet. If your hair is wet, towel dry. Using a round bristle brush, comb back all your hair and apply a shine hair spray and keep combing your hair back while applying more shine spray. Your hair should look wet and shiny not crunchy and stiff. Pair with matching earrings and lipstick for a dramatic red carpet finish!
Fake A Milkmaid Braid
Just because you have a short bob doesn’t mean you can’t fake having longer hair! I love this braid headband I scored at my local beauty supply store —doesn’t it look exactly like my hair color?
How To: Tease your hair at the crown to create fullness at the top of your hair which will make it look like you actually took your time to braid your hair. Spray the teased part of your hair with hairspray and comb back gently. Put on your headband and secure your hair strand at the base of the headband using bobby pins.Make sure your hair covers the headband at the back of your head too so you don’t give your hair trick away so easily! It’s OK if some hair strands are not perfect and fall on your face —it’ll make it look more natural and boho-chic.
