It’s crazy hair color without the commitment!
Dying hair crazy colors is a trend that’s been going strong for a while now, but what do you do if you want to have some fun, but don’t want to make a color commitment? Try chalk pastels!
Here are SEVEN TIPS for successful hair chalking:
TIP #1
Buy chalk pastels. You can find them at craft stores like Michaels, or you can order them online from Amazon. Remember, it is important to buy CHALK pastels and not OIL pastels!
TIP #2
Drape a towel over your shoulders to protect your clothing before you get started.
TIP #3
Pick your favorite color of chalk. Wet the tip of the chalk in a glass of water, then rub the end of the chalk down your hair, re-wetting when necessary. Work in a downward motion to help keep your hair from getting frizzy.
TIP #4
Switch colors if you want. Have fun and experiment! This type of hairstyle is meant to be fun and carefree!
TIP #5
Wait for your newly colored hair to dry a little before removing the towel or getting dressed. You don’t want to get colored dye on your clothes. Also, you’re going to get a bit messy, so be sure to wash your hands well after applying the chalk. Don’t worry, it comes off with soap and water!
TIP #6
If you have lighter hair, skip wetting the chalk first and just use the chalk dry on your hair. Wetting it may stain lighter hair a bit more and make washing out a little more difficult.
TIP #7
If you find that the color is not showing up enough for you, try running a flat iron or curling iron over the part you have colored to brighten it up and seal it in (temporarily!).
